This role is integral to drive the ESG and Reputational Risk agenda and embed the framework within key business processes and across markets.
The Head, Greenwashing risk and ESG regulations will:
· Lead the second-line review and challenge of Sustainable Finance and Sustainability-related activities in driving the management of greenwashing risk.
· Lead the development of the target operating model for Sustainability risk obligations and commitments.
· Lead the regulatory impact assessment of emerging Sustainability and Climate regulatory obligations across countries and Group, working with the Chief Sustainability Officer team, Large Scale Regulatory Change, RIU, Finance and other key stakeholders as necessary.
· Supervise and ensure delivery of Sustainability and Climate regulatory interpretation and policy formulation.
· Supervise and ensure effective monitoring of obligations and provide ongoing attestation to regulatory authorities to confirm compliance to relevant regulations.
· Lead regulatory input across Greenwashing, taxonomies, and Sustainability and Climate regulations.
· Lead the management and assurance behind the Group’s Sustainability-related commitments.
· Ensure the control environment for ESG and Reputational Risk Framework is reviewed for weaknesses.
· Lead the development of ESG Hub in support of Countries’ second line responsibilities, including hiring, and developing and executing an effective training and onboarding programme.
· Provide subject matter expertise in annual Corporate plan review, Risk Appetite setting and ICAAP scenario design.
Strategy
· Transform and execute Sustainability Risk management in alignment with Fit For Growth and ERM Risk strategies.
· Supervise and lead the integration of the Sustainability Risk management across Clients, Third Parties and Operations, in alignment with our Bold Stands and Chapter 3 ambitions.
· Ensure ESG and Reputational Risk contribute Group-wide strategic initiatives and alignment of our portfolio to various external commitments such as Net Zero.
Business
· Drive the embedding of Risk considerations into first-line processes i.e. Businesses, Supply Chain Management, and Functions and ensuring first-line are kept up to date with evolving risk and regulatory landscape.
· Where required, supervise, and endorse enhanced training and guidance materials for the frontline and second-line risk owners.
Processes
· Ensure new areas of risk is integrated in the process universe for ESG and Reputational Risk.
· Supervise the maintenance of formalised procedures and DOIs for relevant ESG and Reputational Risk processes.
People & Talent
· Lead, develop, and build an effective and impactful team within ESG and Reputational Risk.
· Ensure the provision of ongoing training and people development to ensure that holders of critical roles are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles
· Build and promote the appropriate culture and values within the Risk function and across the wider organisation.
Risk Management
· Uphold the integrity of risk/return decisions, by challenging business to demonstrate that risk origination and control decisions are properly informed and consistent with the reputational and sustainability risk strategy and risk appetite.
· Act quickly and decisively when any risk and control weaknesses become apparent and ensure they are addressed within an appropriate timeframe and escalated through the relevant committees.
· Act as second-line for risk areas aligned to the RTF and Policy as well as review and challenge Standard generation and updates
Governance
· Supervise and ensure the management of ESG and Reputational Risk adheres to the highest standards of regulatory and business conduct and compliance practices as defined by internal and external requirements.
· Embed the Group’s values and code of conduct in ESG and Reputational Risk.
· Ensure that material risk exposures and related issues are reported to the respective risk governance committees.

Our Ideal Candidate
· 12+ years of experience in Financial Institutions, with good understanding of wide range of Corporate and Retail banking products.
· Strong understanding of Risk management with track record of transforming risk management strategies into policies and standards
· Strong knowledge of Sustainability risk regulatory landscape, with ability to structure risk management strategy to meet regulatory change in the horizon.
· Good knowledge of Sustainable Finance
· Experienced leader who has managed teams remotely in multiple locations.
· A driver of change, “never settle” in enhancing existing risk management approach.
· Demonstrated ability for problem solving, working independently and attention to detail;
· Strong capability to employ discretion and independent judgments.
· Knowledge of financial and non-financial risks and trends.
· Strong creativity and problem-solving abilities.
· Excellent inter-personal skills; comfortable in building relationships at senior levels and across teams, with outstanding communication skills.
· Confident and self-motivated person with a high level of drive and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
· Bachelor's Degree or similar professional qualification.
