Job Description
The PCB Design Engineer will have a strong background in PCB design and layout, particularly for power supply applications. This role involves working closely with electrical engineers, mechanical/thermal engineers, and other cross-functional team members to design and develop printed circuit boards for power supply products.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and develop PCB layouts for power supply circuits, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and manufacturability using industry-standard software (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD, Eagle).
- Perform component placement, routing, and optimization to meet electrical, mechanical constraints and thermal requirements including compliance to EMI/EMC standards.
- Work closely with electrical engineers to understand circuit requirements and constraints, and with mechanical engineers to ensure proper integration of PCBs into overall product designs.
- Participate in prototyping and testing of PCB designs to validate performance and reliability, debugging and resolving issues related to signal integrity, thermal management, and EMC/EMI compliance.
- Generate and maintain detailed design documentation, including schematics, layout files, BOMs, and assembly drawings, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest PCB design technologies, tools, and best practices, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design processes and product quality.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of electrical circuit design, signal integrity, and thermal management.
- Proficiency in PCB design software (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD, Eagle) and familiarity with simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, ANSYS).
- Advanced skills in PCB layout design, electrical schematic design and development, including component placement, routing, and optimization.
- Experience with high-power and high-frequency PCB designs including analog and digital circuits.
- Knowledge of power electronics and magnetics design.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., IPC, UL, CE).
- Proficiency in generating and maintaining detailed design documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with the capacity to collaborate effectively across different engineering disciplines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in PCB design and power supply development.
