The Smart Systems Institute (SSI) at the National University of Singapore is an interdisciplinary research institute and an experimental “playground" for human-centered AI technologies. Our vision is to enable situated AI assistance for every human to work, play, and learn. The research at SSI spans the spectrum of embodied AI, robotics, interaction design, augmented/virtual reality. The institute brings together researchers from diverse backgrounds, including AI, engineering, design, social sciences, to collaborate and to shape the future of AI.
• The visiting faculty member will conduct research within the scope of interesting in Smart Systems Institute
• Work in the areas of collaborative robotics, mobile manipulation, and human-robot interaction
• To undertake cooperative research with the students in SSI laboratories
• The expected research outputs will be several conference papers and journal articles—the main area of investigation will be robust manipulation in dynamic environments.
• Provide expert advice in any research, education, or advisory matters pertaining to the Institute
Qualifications
- A PhD from a well-placed university is highly desirable.
- Demonstrates good leadership, strong interpersonal skills, and management abilities, and has directed successful projects or academic initiatives.
- Candidates are expected to have a strong track record of outstanding research achievements in his/her area of expertise in the international research community.
- Evidence of course development and strong teaching in interdisciplinary and collaborative learning platforms.
- Faculty or industry practitioners who should be passionate about their disciplinary areas and have demonstrated creative capacity to provide knowledge integration in fusing human intelligence with machine intelligence.
