Principal Responsibilities:
- Establish appropriate financial reporting controls based on risk assessments to ensure adherence to the Group’s Framework at the site Finance level.
- Liaise with Finance teams to identify, mitigate, and monitor key risks within their activities and operations, ensuring an appropriate control environment.
- Provide effective governance, challenging and reporting of key risks and controls within Finance.
- Monitor the ongoing effectiveness of key controls to ensure they operate in line with risk appetite, regulatory, and organizational requirements. This includes developing monitoring plans, tracking progress, executing control monitoring, reporting results, and developing action plans.
- Ensure timely completion and adequacy of remediation actions for issues including self-identified issues by Finance, audit findings, internal control issues, and regulatory observations.
- Ensure effective assessment and management of risk within Finance projects.
- Monitor and validate key controls, reporting any weaknesses noted to management.
- Participate in various phases of the system development life cycle to identify key financial reporting risks and ensure they are mitigated by the design of controls embedded in new systems.
- Work closely with IT, Product, Policy Servicing, New Business, Claims, and Finance Change Delivery teams to ensure timely delivery of system migration.
- Liaise with Compliance and Control Office, Products, New Business, Policy Servicing, Claims, and IT teams to support the resolution of issues that could impact financial reporting.
- Maintain regular liaison with other stakeholders from the second line of defense, responding to their requests as part of Financial Reporting Risk monitoring.
- Occasionally participate in non-control related activities, coordinating audit activities, assurance review activities, preparing Board papers, and other regulatory initiatives.
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or any related discipline.
- At least five to seven years of relevant working experience in finance or audit functions.
- Experience in financial reporting, finance operations, or internal/external audit in the insurance industry would be good to have.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse group of colleagues at different levels.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Helios.
- Solid understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), audit, compliance, and risk requirements.
