As a key member of a trailblazing team, you will play a vital role in ensuring their compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) for IT controls. This individual contributor role focuses on designing, implementing, testing, and documenting IT controls related to financial reporting processes.
The Role
As the IT SOX Manager, you will wear multiple hats, ensuring the company's compliance with SOX for IT controls. You'll collaborate with business owners to understand financial reporting processes and design effective IT controls to safeguard that data. Through risk assessments and test plans, you'll evaluate and refine control effectiveness, documenting any deficiencies and leading remediation efforts. Maintaining the IT SOX control environment, including control matrices and risk assessments, is key. Additionally, you'll stay current on SOX regulations and best practices, assisting with control narratives and other reporting. Collaboration is essential, so expect to participate in IT audits alongside internal and external auditors, while fostering strong relationships with IT and business stakeholders. Finally, continuous improvement is the name of the game, and you'll be instrumental in optimizing the efficiency and effectiveness of the entire IT SOX compliance program.
Your Profile
To excel in this IT SOX Manager role, we seek a highly qualified professional with a minimum of 8 years of experience in IT SOX compliance, IT audit, or a similar field. Holding a recognized certification like CISA, CISSP, CIA, or equivalent is a strong plus. Prior 2 to 3 years of experience at a Big 4 accounting firm would be advantageous. Your analytical and problem-solving skills will be crucial, particularly when utilizing tools like Visio to map application flows and identify relevant controls within the SOX scope. Additionally, experience with data analytics tools (e.g., ACL) and data extraction methods (Excel Macros, Python, R) is essential. As a strong project manager, you will manage multiple priorities and deliver results on time. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are key to leading and collaborating across departments – from understanding complex processes to completing control documentation and facilitating upstream/downstream process mapping. They value a diligent and effective talent who inspires by example, possesses strong integrity, and works seamlessly within the SOX team to achieve ambitious goals.
