RESPONSIBILITIES
The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing of high nursing standard care render to the residents in the Residential Home.
She/He also responsible for providing supervision, guidance and direction to all nursing and non-nursing staff and works with a team of nursing aides and allied health staff to attend to the health care needs of persons with intellectual disability in a residential facility and to ensure the optimal care is provided.
She/He supervises the performance of tasks in care plans by nursing team members and provides inputs in the development and review of care plans of the residents in the Residential Home.
A good team player, resourceful, proactive and responsible professional who possesses good leadership and team management skills, the Staff Nurse works in various voluntary welfare organisations, communities and institutional settings.
Manage patient-centred care
- Supervise nursing team members in supporting healthcare professionals in providing assistance to clients in managing their healthcare needs
- Perform daily client management
- Attend to any medical problem/emergency of residents
- Monitor for early signs and/or deterioration of patients' conditions with appropriate physiological assessments and observations
- Verify accuracy of documentation of client's condition, progress and care treatments
- Monitor compliance of infection control and practices in the clinical area
- Deliver evidence-based care in collaboration with inter-professional teams
- Participate in quality and patient safety activities
Clinical Supervision
- Supervise performance of tasks by nursing team members according to care plans
- Provide inputs to nursing team members and and/or Allied health professionals for the development and review of care plans
- Supervise daily handover to staff during shift change
- Provide close supervision of junior staff by:
- Guide to meet appropriate nursing related standards for
- Basic nursing care
- Wound management
- Medication administration
- Handling emergency situation
- Assess skills competency in junior staff
- Identify skills and knowledge deficits in nursing care delivery
- Ensure accurate and appropriate nursing documentation
- Counsel and assist all junior staff where appropriate.
- Report and initiate actions to resolve non-adherence issues.
- Maintain discipline off all staff effectively, responsible for their uniform code, punctuality, attendance, and adherence to the Residential Home code of conduc
Manage care operations
- Monitor operations to ensure adherence to relevant statutory requirements and organisational policies
- Assist Head of Home/Assistant Manager on manpower roster
- Conduct regular operations review meetings with staff
- Conduct in service education or staff trainings for junior nursing staff in providing assistance and care to clients
- Assist in developing, designing, customizing, implementing and reviewing nursing standards and Standard Operation Procedure (SOP).
- Assist and participate in staff meetings and debrief
- Take on the role of medication preparation and residents' related admin work.
Perform stakeholder engagement
- Liaise with other professionals, volunteer Doctor, hospital and stakeholders involved in the case to facilitate provision of care services for clients
- Provide client perspectives and needs in development of care plans with professionals and other stakeholders
- Maintenance and updated documents for MSF licensing.
- Registered Nurse (SNB License) with a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience.
- Diploma in Nursing.
- Computer literacy skills MS Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience working with persons with autism, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities is preferred
- 3 shifts (Morning Afternoon or Night Duty).
- 5 working days and 2 days off (based on the roster).
