Reporting to the head of the Underwriting, Reinsurance & Claims department, this role will focus on the development of a comprehensive regional facultative strategy for implementation in Asia to support profitable growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a most suitable facultative strategy paper and regional guideline for MSIG Asia
- Develop a structured regional implementation plan of the new approach especially for large clients in the region
- Develop a monitoring system and embed ongoing enhancement/ adjustment mechanism
- Review current regional process / procedures and relevant guidelines as a possible starting point for enhancement
- Coordinate and collaborate with relevant Business Units (BUs) to investigate respective current practices
- Strengthen the position of BUs in facultative Reinsurance negotiation leveraging on group strength
- Investigate practices of peers / competitors on the subject matter
- Provide a platform for knowledge sharing of market development, technical information, regional/ global claims development, etc.
Requirements
- Degree holder, preferably in Business Management, or any other related fields
- ACII or equivalent professional qualification in insurance will be an added advantage
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in the insurance/reinsurance industry, and preferably with not less than 5 years of experience with people management responsibilities
- Understanding of financial statements, credit risk and insurance financial fundamentals, and impact of underwriting decisions on company assets
- Experience with large and complex clients in established and large markets in ASEAN
- Familiarity with Japanese business practices and with Japanese risks in the manufacturing sector will be a distinct advantage
- Ability to identify risk exposures, special or common hazards and appropriate controls
- Strong track record in business development, with business acumen to understand business and market requirements
- Excellent analytical skills with creative and strategic thinking and planning
- Strong negotiation, problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of Asian cultural and insurance business dynamics with good influencing and presentation capabilities
