Marine Operations
- Support and assist the QSHE Group Leader in day-to-day marine related operations of the managed vessels
- Implement approved policies to keep the Marine Operations costs to a minimum
- To be consistent with safe and efficient operations of the company’s vessels to meet Company’s standards and vessels requirements
- Carry out routine SMS communication between vessel and office
- Continuous examination of navigational; communication, cargo and ship handling development and submit recommendations for improvement
- Visit vessel in Singapore or overseas and conduct vessel inspection.
- Provide weather routing support to vessels during winter months and whenever needed.
- Initiate and handle company emergency drill
- Handling P&I and H&M claims matters and collating costs
- Monitor, Manage / Renew vessel's certificates
- Monitor till closure, all nonconformities, observations and defects
- Monitor Risk Assessment & Management of Change activities in organization
- Monitor trends in company’s performance using various KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators)
- Acquire information related to emerging rules & conventions, maintain ledger and transmit to vessels and concerned parties.
- Assist fleet vessels with ISM, ISPS and MLC Compliance requirements
- Be responsible for proper functioning of various software and IT related projects onboard.
- Be responsible for implementation of Cyber Security Policy on board and monitor same.
- Handle various IT projects and manage onboard IT network and infrastructure.
- Carry out preboarding briefings of ship's officers
- Carry out incident investigation as directed by QSHE Group Leader / GM.
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 08:30am to 17:30pm. Occasionally after office and weekend work may be required to provide support to the vessels. At times short sailing may also be required as directed by management.
- Bachelor's Degree is prefered. Polytecnic diploma in Maritime Studies or Marine Engineering, High school (A Levels or NITEC equivalent) or O Levels will be considered.
- Certificate of Competency (COC) - Class 2 or above
- At least 5 years of experience in shipping industry including sea service is required
- At least 5 years experience working at multi national environment
- At least 1 year of actual sea experience within the last 5 years
- At least 3 years of experience working on a Ocean going vessel
- At least 12 months experience as Officer sailing on large container vessel is required
- Experience and understanding of IMDG cargo compatibility, segregation and carriage is preferred
- Some experience and understanding of Reefer Containers is preferred
- Excellent organizational skills Ability to identify problems. trouble shoot, make suggestions for solutions, and implement them Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive and handle uncertainty Willing to visit the vessel for communicating with Ship's staff and conduct inspection Good leadership, presentation and time management skills Positive learning attitude
- Literate in Computer & MS office Application Good working knowledge with Weather software such as WNI DOSCA / StormGeo BV Good working knowledge with POWERSTOW / CASP or equivalent container loading software. Good working knowldge of SMS related communication through digital platform. Experience with MACK is preferred
- Experience and understanding of onboard IT network and infrastructure is preferred
