Primary School Teacher - Nederlandse stroom

40 hours,

As the sun rises over the beautiful green Bukit Tinggi Road, the halls of our vibrant school come to life with the joyful chatter of students eagerly making their way to their classrooms. In one of our classrooms, you are passionately engaged in teaching a group of learners, sparking their curiosity and educating them to become global citizens. This is the essence of our school community, and we are excited to welcome a new member to join us in shaping the educational journey of our youngest students.

At Holland International School we offer two learning streams with an international focus and based on a Dutch-rooted approach to education. Within the Dutch Stream, the language of instruction is Dutch and the students are given English lessons daily as part of the curriculum.

Our school’s culture and education approach focuses on our students learning in an inquiry-based and structured way. They are given ownership of their learning, allowing them to set their own learning goals. At the same time, students are encouraged to be internationally-minded and socially competent learners. Teachers tailor lessons to the different learning needs and talents of their students, to empower each student to achieve their best.

The role and responsibilities

Your role as a Primary School Teacher is crucial for the development and education of our young children. Your main task will consist of planning and delivering lessons, including Spelling, Comprehensive reading and Mathematics, and teaching through the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). Students in your class receive one hour of English language instruction per day from our English Language Teachers.

Creating a positive and safe learning environment is essential. You will manage student behaviour, encourage participation, and teach engaging well-planned lessons. Every child in our school is unique, so you will need to differentiate your teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles. You will provide feedback to students and their parents about their academic performance, building strong connections with our active parent community.

Effective communication with parents is crucial for a child's educational success. You will regularly update parents on class activities through our school’s online platform and during parent-teacher meetings.

We are looking for a candidate with a collaborative approach to working. Collaboration with other staff members is essential for creating a cohesive learning environment and addressing the diverse needs of students.

You have

  • At least a Bachelor's degree in education and are a qualified teacher.
  • Strong subject knowledge across the primary curriculum; experience of teaching the IPC is an advantage
  • Ability to maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, manage behaviour effectively and promote student engagement.
  • Excellent communication skills with students, colleagues, and parents in Dutch and English
  • Flexibility to adapt teaching strategies based on individual student needs.
  • Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.

We are looking for a team player who is adaptable, takes initiative, and is also ICT literate and familiar with Google Suite.

Our offer

An employment contract starting August 1st, 2024. We offer different contract terms based on the candidate's current residency status, subject to the discretion of our management team. For candidates relocating from abroad, we provide a package including a two-year contract and a potential annual renewal. For candidates already residing in Singapore, we offer a one-year contract with the potential for annual renewal. Please note that expatriate benefits are not available for locally-based candidates.

In addition to a competitive monthly salary, based on your experience and expertise, you will be entitled to a monthly transportation allowance and follow the school holiday schedule for teachers. Furthermore, we provide a health insurance package and offer a bonus payment.
