As an Application Modernization Consultant/Cloud Architect, you will work directly with our most strategic customers on critical application development and modernization projects to help transform their businesses. You will provide consulting, program management, and technical expertise to customers while collaborating with client executives and key technical leaders to drive the adoption of modern application patterns and paradigms via Google’s Cloud Platform.You will also work closely with our key partners currently servicing top accounts to manage programs, deliver consulting services, and provide technical guidance and best practice expertise. You possess a broad skill set including software engineering, architecture design, distributed systems, container technologies, and deployment strategies. To be successful, you must navigate ambiguity, have extensive experience working with cloud technologies, possess technical depth, and enjoy working with client executives.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with customer development leads, client executives, and partners to manage and deliver successful, modern, cloud applications, becoming a trusted advisor to decision-makers throughout the engagement.
- Work with internal specialists, product, and engineering teams to package approaches, best practices, and lessons learned into thought leadership, methodologies, and published assets.
- Interact with sales, partners, and customer technical stakeholders to manage project scope, priorities, deliverables, risks/issues, and timelines for successful client outcomes.
- Advocate for customers' needs to overcome adoption blockers and drive new feature development based on field experience.
- Propose solution architectures and manage the deployment of cloud-native application development solutions according to complex customer requirements and implementation best practices.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in project managing and/or delivering technical solutions.
- Advanced understanding of the software supply chain in an enterprise environment (software engineering, testing, CI/CD) and architecting, developing, or maintaining cloud solutions in containerized environments.
- Experience with highly available, scalable applications and distributed systems.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in demonstrating technical client service.
- Proficiency in software languages (Java, Go, JavaScript, Python, etc.) and building/architecting DevOps pipelines, with familiarity with associated tools.
- Experience with detailed network, security, and system design in the deployment of virtual machines and containerized applications.
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes.
- Possession of a cloud certification.
- Experience in application architecture, particularly with microservices backend and front-end exposure.
- Full stack developer exposure and database skills from a developer perspective.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, GKE, and Kubernetes networking, as well as Istio service mesh.
- Knowledge of infrastructure as code, particularly Terraform.
- Familiarity with common CI/CD tooling and patterns.
- Understanding of cloud-native design patterns specific to cloud-based application refactoring and modernization.
- Proficiency in API management, including API gateways, design, security, and monitoring.
- Understanding of observability approaches for metrics and logging, especially in containerized environments.
