SUMMARY:


Tower Transit Singapore (TTS) is in the business of moving people, not buses. As one of Singapore’s four public transport operators, TTS carries about 14 million passengers a month. The work we do impacts the lives of many people and intersects with all segments of society. This people-centric perspective influences everything we do from the way we treat our employees and passengers to the stories we tell.


As Communications Senior Executive, you will have the opportunity to engage with stakeholders across that broad spectrum, including bus captains, the trade union, the media, community groups and MPs, all of whom are your audiences. You will support TTS’ internal and external communications efforts, tailoring key messages to different stakeholder groups and applying your skills in strategic communication to a wide range of issues.


You will play a key role in managing our internal comms by working with various departments to craft and amplify key messages to our employees. You will take the lead on internal content creation and manage the publishing of news on TTS Hub, our custom-built staff app. You will also work with our developers to drive enhancements to the app. As part of a nimble and dynamic Communications & Customer Experience team, you will also support our staff engagement, customer experience and inclusive transport initiatives. On the external front, your main responsibilities encompass media relations, and social media, stakeholder and events management.


You will report directly to the Communications and Customer Experience Senior Manager and work closely with the Communications and Customer Experience Director. This role is based primarily at the Bulim Bus Depot but will often require you to travel to other locations across TTS’ operations.


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES:

  • Work closely with the Communications Director to develop and execute communications plans for both internal and external audiences
  • Internal content creation for multiple channels (including TV screens and TTS’ staff app) to ensure employees are well informed and engaged
  • Craft scripts and produce monthly ‘MD’s Update’ videos
  • Contribute to the shaping of a positive employer brand among current and potential employees
  • Engage with TTS employees to unearth human-interest stories for internal/external publicity
  • Work closely with TTS’ marketing and social media agency to develop social media content consistent with TTS’ brand voice
  • Post ad hoc service announcements on social media to keep passengers aware of service disruptions (e.g. delays, accidents, etc.)
  • Draft media releases, actively pitch stories to the media and facilitate interviews
  • Work with the Communications Director to manage TTS’ reputation online and in the media in the event of accidents
  • Monitor relevant trends and conversations and leverage them for positive visibility/publicity
  • Manage events including interchange launches, brand activation, public engagement
  • Work with TTS’ marketing and social media agency to ensure content on TTS’ website is current and accurate
  • Liaise with the Land Transport Authority on media/communication related matters
  • Support the broader work of the Communications and Customer Experience team including organising staff and community engagement events and stakeholder management

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, CONDITIONS SPECIFICATION:

  • At least three years of experience in an internal or external communications role
  • Marketing and/or journalism experience is a plus
  • A nose for news and knack for coming up with interesting story angles
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Competent in written and spoken Mandarin
  • A gregarious personality, comfortable interacting with both rank and file and management
  • Ability to work and have influence with multiple departments
  • Creative, lateral thinker
  • Ability to use design software (e.g. Canva, Adobe Illustrator) is a plus

  • To report to your Line Manager or a Supervisor any injury, collision of dangerous occurrence in which you may have been involved, or are aware of having taken place at your work location, or any concern you have about health and safety issues.
