Main Duties and Responsibilities
Accounts
- Overview of local accounting records in accordance with the Group policies and procedures for the issuance of financial statements, reports, budgeting and forecast.
- Interfaces with external auditors, bankers, tax agents or trades and developments ministries relating to all financial, tax compliance in accordance with established accounting standards and statutory requirements.
- Formulates and implements financial policies, procedures, and data processing for the Group’s development and financial performance.
- Responsible for managing and reporting cash balances and cash flow.
- Develops and manages sound audit policies, practices and procedures to ensure protection of Group assets by identifying and minimising risks.
- Provide professional advice and analysis of the financial profile of potential mergers and acquisitions of companies relating to financial investments.
- Provided financial assistance and guidance including analysis and interpretation to top management in the development of appropriate financial controls and reports.
Banking
- Oversees and manages treasury activities such as forex, money market, shares, or bond transactions and other banking services.
- Handles and reviews loans, overdrafts, funds transfer, foreign exchange, letter of credits and banker guaranties.
Credit/AR Control
- Directs and formulates policies and procedures relating to the conduct of credit investigations for credit worthiness, debt collections and initiates legal action where necessary.
- Evaluates effectiveness of current collection policies and procedures.
- Establishes and recommends approval or rejection of credit applications or limit of customers’ accounts and terms of payment based on analysis of financial status and reputation of current/prospective customers.
Legal
- Identifies, directs, analyses and negotiates before presenting and advising Board of Directors on prospective mergers, acquisitions and divestments.
- Supports the Group in any legal action against it and provides or seeks legal advice in initiating legal action against aggressors.
- Obtains the services of external legal counsel as required.
Others
- Maintains and constantly collaborates with other Management Team and Head of Department (HOD) and seeks to improve the Group’s competitive position, market potential and long-term business plans and strategies.
- Assists Singapore CEO and Management Team in preparing short and medium-range plans. Establishes operational budgets and ensures that the forecasted and budgeted goals are achieved and cost objectives are met, otherwise to raise red flags on a timely basis.
- Responsible for any other duties that may be assigned to you from time to time as the Management deem fit.
Performance Standard
- Ensures financial systems and procedures are accurate and efficient.
- Ensures that internal controls are adhered to.
- Provides and maintains accurate and timely financial transaction records and reporting.
- Engages in reducing or maintain Accounts Receivable turnover rate to be below or within the credit term period.
- Ensures that Account Payable transactions are matched to all necessary documentation and adhered to company policy or process guidelines (i.e. purchasing terms and conditions).
- Able to act independently and deal with routine problems, referring only complex situations to the superior for guidance.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Finance / Accountancy with Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification or equivalent by recognized professional bodies.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in a senior managerial capacity with proven track record in all financial functions.
- Strategic thinking with initiative, goal oriented and ability to work independently under pressure and communicate well at all levels.
- Strong leadership, analytical and communication skills with strategic business accruement.
- Strong networking with various financial institutions and key industry professionals.
