Job Overview:
We are seeking a Director of Human Resources who will be instrumental in leading our HR department. This individual will develop and oversee comprehensive HR strategies that support the school’s vision and growth. The Director of Human Resources will ensure that all HR operations are conducted in compliance with Singapore’s employment laws and regulations, catering to both local and international staff members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives that align with the overall business strategy of the school.
- Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, or other issues.
- Manage the recruitment and selection process to ensure it is compliant with local laws and effectively meets the needs of the school for both local and expatriate staff.
- Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance and professional development.
- Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management, particularly regarding Singapore employment standards and practices for both local and foreign employees.
- Develop and implement policies for staff welfare, including health and safety, equal opportunities, anti-discriminatory practices, and proper handling of grievances.
- Administer employee benefits, payroll, and not limited to compensation plans.
- Provide decision support through HR metrics and ensure systems are in place to collect and maintain reliable data.
- Manage budgets and forecasts pertaining to the HR department.
- Lead the HR staff and further their professional development within the department.
Qualifications:
- Relevant educational background or training in human resources, business administration, law, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong ability to execute projects.
- At least 7 years of experience in human resources, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Experience in the education sector is desirable.
- Extensive understanding of employment laws and regulations in Singapore, applicable to both Singaporean citizens and foreign employees.
- Proven experience in HR practices and employee management, including an understanding of best practices in recruitment and selection, compensation, organizational planning, employee relations, and employee development.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels within the school.
- Excellent leadership qualities and the ability to foster a healthy workplace environment.
- Proficient in HRIS systems, MS Office Suite, and comfortable handling large sets of data.
- Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to speak Chinese/Mandarin is an advantage.
