JOB ROLE DESCRIPTION - SUMMARY

The ITAC Credit Trader acts as a Market Operator (or “Opérateur de marché” in French) in accordance with the Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale’s job description framework. He/she carries out, within the framework of the rules and limits set by the bank and the hierarchy, market operations enabling the bank or the clients' objectives to be met according to market opportunities.

In Asia Pacific, the ITAC Credit Trader is a member of a team that invests in the APAC credit markets. He/She is responsible for building, implementing and improving fundamental or quantitative trading models for the trading of credit and Asset-Backed Security (ABS) assets. He is required to develop profitable trading strategies using statistical methods before deploying these models to execute trades. He optimizes risk/return and acts cautiously in high volatile markets. He also inputs trades in systems following adequate procedures, monitors and controls investments within the bank’s limits and frameworks, and cooperates with market activities support teams (back office, legal, risk, etc.).

ITAC Credit Trader possesses a quantitative background with a strong affinity for numbers and data. He is logical and highly analytical, and is able to make sense and draw patterns from quantitative data. He is a creative thinker who can pilot his quantitative expertise and understanding of financial markets to find and convert trading opportunities into profitable solutions.


CRITICAL WORK FUNCTIONS AND KEY TASKS

Manage trades from inception to execution

  • Develop trading strategies using fundamental or quantitative methods to maximise assets while minimising risks
  • Research and keep up-to-date on financial instruments of focus and/or sectors or industries of focus for trading
  • Monitor the market for news, potential disruptions and opportunities
  • Conduct pre-trade analysis and verifications on financial instruments and report findings
  • Conduct analysis of trade execution
  • Deploy algorithmic trading models and quantitative methods to execute trades

Establish compliance with regulations and execution policies

  • Learn and stay up-to-date with local trading regulations and best execution policies
  • Ensure trading procedures are governed within set trading limits
  • Ensure that the trades executed comply with organisation's execution policies and local trading regulations

Design trade methodologies and architecture

  • Research new investment ideas, building investment thesis or models
  • Develop algorithmic and statistical trading models based underlying datasets and trading policies
  • Design and conduct back-testing and simulation processes to validate proposed or developed models

Monitor and anticipate market and corporate changes

  • Identify relevant sources of information
  • Deduce short and medium-term trends from changes in various markets and complementary indexes
  • Follow the life and projects of targeted companies to identify specific evolution
  • Contribute to the formulation of action and investment strategies

Value the entrusted assets

  • Define investment strategies that take into account the needs of asset holders
  • Make quick decisions on the basis of available information
  • Integrate the risk dimension into activities
  • Comply with prudential rules and procedures in force

Manage relationships with stakeholders

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master in Finance, Computer Science, Business or Engineering
  • Proficiency in French is a must to cover and foster professional relationships with Head Office
  • Minimum 4 Years of relavant working experience in credit/Asset-Backed Security (ABS)
  • In depth knowledge of credit markets and familiar with fundamental/quantitative credit strategies
  • Candidates with Financial Markets Regulatory Practices (FMRP) certificate will be a an added advantage
  • Good team player
  • Good communication and collaborative skills to effectively bridge issues and topics across departments and clients
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint and Excel)
  • Experience with programming in VBA and Python
