We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering & Design Manager with a strong background in renewable energy systems, with a specialization in power systems, solar PV, and battery storage. This role requires a thorough understanding of engineering standards, technical guidance, and quality compliance, as well as the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex data.
Job description:
- Understand relevant engineering standards pertaining to BESS
- Provide technical guidance to design engineers
- Ensure compliance with Company quality program
- Initiate and lead research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection
- Oversee collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work
- Understand and review engineering calculations and problem analysis following standard methods and principles independently
- Lead and coordinate multiple discipline activity with all other internal/external team members, consultants, main contractors and system specialists to ensure all requirements comply with specifications
- Provide technical support to cross functions
- Develop and apply advanced engineering concepts and approaches to unique engineering problems
- Design BESS equipment layout, container layouts and coordinate with electrical, civil and PV engineering team for complete packages for installation
- Develop single-line and three-line diagrams with required electrical details in accordance to IEC standards / protection & discrimination of upstream with the battery system in accordance with local codes and requirements
- Model energy storage system performance, coordinate, obtain and integrate BMS, EMS and SCADA designs for the battery system from third party monitoring companies
- Develop technical specifications and scopes of work for owners, engineering firms and contractors
- Drive the technical due diligence from initial bidding stage, implementation phase and operation phase
- Perform value engineering, engineering studies, prepare detailed quantity estimates, cost analysis and as built designs

Job requirements:
- Minimum Degree in Engineering, or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the areas of Renewable Energy Systems preferably with a specialisation in power systems, Solar PV, Battery Storage
- Knowledgeable and experience on the different parameters for design, selection, and sizing of the batteries as well leveraging the parameters to optimise sizes of the batteries
- Knowledgeable and experience on Battery Energy Storage System design, performance modelling, lifetime estimation simulations of batteries, degradation and augmentation schedules, visualization of business model (duty cycle)
- Knowledgeable and experience on different applications of battery systems like power smoothening, ancillary services, peak shifting etc., and determination of battery profile, dispatch optimization for different applications
- Understand AC Coupled and DC coupled Battery Energy Storage systems
- Strong knowledge in fundamental aspects and main characteristics of current battery technologies and relate them to battery parameters (like Round Trip efficiency, Cycle Life, etc.)
- Knowledgeable and experience in Bi-directional inverter operation, control, and integration with battery systems
- Have comprehensive knowledge on electrical design, testing and validations like IEC, UL, NFPA, IEEE, CE, BS, ANSI, API, ISO and fire codes and safety mitigation in BESS industry
- Knowledge and experience in utility grid interconnection standards, such as UL/IEEE standards, IS, Transmission/Gird codes
