The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is looking for a Research Assistant (RA) who can work as a Data Scientist, Machine Learning (ML) Researcher and ML Engineer working in collaboration with external NUS and NParks cross-functional teams.
This is a full-time Research Assistant (with Honours degree) position at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) under Dr. Sit Ji-Jon and A/P Lee Yee Hui. In this project, the RA must fill the 3 roles of Data Scientist, Machine Learning (ML) Researcher and ML Engineer at a proportion of 2:5:3 respectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform fieldwork
- Curation of remote sensing data from UAV mapping missions across multiple forested sites.
- Explore and implement biodiversity classification and canopy analysis algorithms based on UAV remote sensing data.
- Build the system infrastructure for serving the UAV data to the research methods
- Provide data visualization for end-users.
- Build a ML model that integrates the results from Phase 1 with data from NUS Ecology and Geospatial teams for forecasting forest growth and recovery
- Construct a professional data portal for multiple users to conveniently enter the data and view the results using industry-standard software engineering practices.
- Liaise work between NTU, NUS and NParks to bring the project to a successful ending.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or Honours degree in Computer Science or related with relevant research/work experience.
- Academic background in remote sensing, machine learning or data science
- Experience in software engineering (from industry or equivalent)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
