Job Objective
The Head of Primary oversees the Early Childhood and Primary and serves as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, ensuring that teaching and learning adhere to established standards and practices. Knowledgeable and reflective practitioner who fosters a positive learning environment to inspire and challenge all learners to develop into self-regulated, lifelong learners and leaders. The Head of Primary serves as the pedagogical and pastoral leader of the Early Childhood and Primary School.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Primary School in alignment with the School’s vision and mission for teaching and learning.
- Provide guidance and support to staff for resource management, planning, and assessment of Primary School provision.
- Conduct regular work book reviews and formal/informal lesson observations following School procedures.
- Stay updated on current legislation, examination specifications, and classroom best practices to advise the Principal on academic policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with staff to develop effective teaching and learning practices.
- Plan and deliver training activities in collaboration with the Principal
- Arrange support for colleagues in their classrooms.
- Ensure teaching areas are organized and stimulating environments in accordance with School display expectations.
- Maintain and manage the Primary School's communication platform, facilitating communication among parents, students, and teachers.
- Assist the Principal in recruiting and appointing staff.
- Attend Board meetings with the Principal and report on Primary School matters.
- Attend and lead curriculum evenings, information evenings, assemblies, performances, and other events essential to the Primary School's provision.
- Support the extra-curricular activities of the Primary School, including participating in off-timetable workshops, extension programs, competitions, trips, assemblies, performances, and other school events.
Requirements
- A total minimum of 12 years Leadership and Teaching Experience in international schools
- At least 5 years in Senior Leadership role in international schools.
- At least a Master's degree in Education and possess Professional Teaching/Teaching qualification certificate (PGDE, PGCE, PGCEi, NIE Diploma), a valid Teacher Licence, or QTS.
- Well conversant with excellent, innovative, and modern pedagogies and assessment tools.
- Strong leadership skills: a proven ability to lead with positivity and to develop staff to meet high expectations
