Job Responsibilities
- Create and execute a comprehensive global freight and logistics strategy to maintain smooth worldwide supply chain operations.
- Manage all transportation costs associated with imported and exported goods.
- Foster strong partnerships with freight carriers to secure the best rates and service levels.
- Leverage your expertise in freight classification, routing, ports, and claims to solve logistical challenges.
- Develop and implement efficient freight management processes, including vendor selection and performance evaluation.
- Evaluate supplier costs to identify and implement cost-saving measures.
- Manage shipping documentation and conduct regular pricing reviews.
- Contribute to the preparation of global and local procurement budgets for raw materials in new markets.
- Ensure the accuracy of freight invoices and resolve any discrepancies.
- Generate weekly reports on market trends, freight rates, and future forecasts.
- Collaborate with internal teams and customers to resolve logistical issues.
- Apply your strategic sourcing skills and attention to detail to ensure timely, cost-effective deliveries while overseeing global freight operations.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A degree is preferred, but relevant experience is highly valued.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in competitive logistics sourcing, with a preference for experience shipping from Australia or Africa to Asia.
- Essential experience in break bulk shipping; container cargo experience is an advantage.
- Comprehensive knowledge of shipping operations, documentation, chartering, and cargo loading.
- A background in ship broking or freight agency is highly advantageous.
- Proactive and able to anticipate and resolve issues before they arise.
- Master of detail, ensuring accuracy in all aspects of work.
- Creative problem solver, capable of thinking outside the box.
- Skilled at multitasking and excelling in a fast-paced environment.
- Quick and decisive in decision-making.
