Our client is a global shipping MNC (based in town). The co allows for a WFH arrangement up to 2 times a week (after the candidate passes the probation period).
For this role, you are responsible for the accounting and reporting matters related to the assigned region, ensuring accuracy of financial and statistical information, and compliance with internal policies and external laws and legislations.

Role and Responsibilities:
- Assist Line Managers with the preparation of weekly flash report.
- Prepare monthly P&L statements for the assigned services. Ensure team members complete the monthly closing for their services on time.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation and distribution of monthly reports to the management. These include regional P&L, commentaries, actual vs. flash variance analysis, actual vs. budget gap analysis, etc…
- Prepare schedules for balance sheet accounts related to cost provisions, unearned/ unbilled revenue, cost recoveries, stock and prepayments. Ensure appropriate actions are taken, and in a timely manner.
- Liaise with external auditors on audit matters and manage the audit process.
- Drive preparation of regional forecasts (quarterly) and budget (annually). This includes ensuring reasonable assumptions are used by Line Managers and the forecast/ budget is reflective of current conditions and business plan. Revenue and cost drivers are to be properly analyzed and presented to management. Ensure submission of reports within stipulated deadlines.
- Being an effective business partner to the regional director and managers. Take pro-active steps to engage regional director and managers in understanding the performance drivers in greater depth, going beyond a pure reporting function. Drive value added analysis to provide useful business insights to support/ improve decision making.
- Ensure efficient and effective operation of disbursements process – include ensuring disbursements are checked for accuracy, relevant supporting documents are submitted and verified, disputes are resolved promptly, monthly reconciliations are prepared, and discrepancies are followed up, and any advances given are accounted for/ recovered timely.
- Identify areas of improvements to existing processes/ systems. Take on lead role in system implementation/ improvement projects.
- Other ad-hoc work or projects may be given from time to time.
Requirements:
Education & Knowledge/experience
- Degree in Accounting with a CA qualification or its equivalent.
- Has a min of 10+ years of accounting experience, with some years of audit experience gained with an audit/accounting firm.
- Has experience working as a finance business partner supporting the business in the shipping sector
- Experience in the Shipping industry is required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with strong working knowledge of MS Excel.
- Has experience managing a team of around 4 to 5 staff
- Able to propose/implement more efficient processes in the accounting function.
