Argus is seeking an editor to lead the Singapore freight team, which covers tanker and dry bulk markets. Your team will cover the markets through daily price assessments, writing interesting, analytical market commentaries, news coverage and in-depth analysis to appear online and in the daily Argus Tanker Freight, Argus Dry Freight, and Argus Gas Freight reports. Through your leadership, your team will also be responsible for maintaining and expanding the contact base, driving methodology and coverage development and attending industry events.
The global freight market is in a state of constant change in its position at the centre of international trade, geopolitics and environmental regulation. This represents an exciting opportunity to join the team and cover high-profile news on changes that can reshape the global trade and impact on the wider crude, oil products, dry bulk and gas commodity industries.
You will work in tandem with the freight teams in Europe and the Americas and collaborate frequently with other editorial teams and business development, sales, and marketing colleagues.
- Manage the Asian Freight editorial team to deliver high quality content and pricing.
- Oversee the day-to-day running of our Asia Freight desk.
- Oversee consistent, high-quality hiring and training of the Asia Freight editorial team.
- Conduct mid-year and end-of-year employee performance reviews.
- Develop contact with market participants and key market sources to build relationships and share market intelligence.
- Oversee quality and relevance of methodology for related markets.
- Collaborate with Manager and Editors globally, as well as business development, sales and commercial to identify customer content needs and help to create value and grow the product and client base.
- Identify product opportunities (new markets to assess, building out analysis).
- Provide subject-matter expertise internally and externally.

What we’re looking for in you
- · Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, economics, business, history or relevant field.
- · Proven track record of managing a team to perform at a high level.
- · Proven ability to develop, source and write industry-relevant news to deadline.
- · Ability to collaborate and work within a close-knit team is essential.
- · Excellent communication skills with ability to network and build contacts with industry executives. Strong presentation skills also preferred.
- · Knowledge of the commodity and/or freight sectors useful, but not essential.
- · Prior experience of working in the financial or energy journalism sector is useful but not essential.
- · Experience in the shipping industry or in a price reporting role is preferred, but not necessary.
