JOB DESCRIPTION
- To lead the team to provide safe, high quality, efficient and cost-effective care to residents and their families, e.g., safe medication practices.
- To oversee the team of SRNs and ENs, NAs, HCAs and HAs. This may include Allied Health Professionals (OT, PT, Speech Therapist, Podiatrist, Dietitian etc).
- Responsible for compliance of all nursing standards as stipulated by Ministry of Health and Singapore Nursing Board.
- Leads quality assurance activities to monitor and evaluate the quality an appropriateness of nursing care. Ensures quality audits are planned and conducted periodically. Follow up with areas for corrective improvements.
- Promotes evidence-based practices or nursing care delivery.
- Ensures written policies and procedures and work process are available and up to date to guide the nursing care delivery.
- Ensures the smooth transition of residents from acute to chronic care and back to the community, where possible.
- Directs care of the residents to ensure compliance to standards.
- Ensures appropriate skills mix and adequate manpower resourcing for all shifts and types of services.
- Directs and facilities staff development, skills and competency upgrading through various opportunities. These may include formal education, in-house training or approved online learning programmes.
- Guides orientation/induction programmes and preceptorship for all new staff.
QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE
- Must have a valid Practicing Certificate with Singapore Nursing Board
- At least 10 years registered nurse experience, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role, of which 5 years in a nursing home, geriatric or palliative care setting
- Has either of the following: Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Medical-Surgical), Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Community Health), Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Palliative Care), Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Gerontology, Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Chronic Disease Management), or Other post-graduate qualifications in nursing (e.g. Masters in Nursing)
- Comfortable with healthcare management software and electronic health records systems
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach
- Ability to handle stressful situations and make decisions under pressure
- Comfortable with all levels of staff
