We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to join our mosquito vector control project. The successful candidate will work on understanding the biology behind the Wolbachia-based IIT-SIT vector control strategy.
Responsibilities:
This research project is in collaboration with the National Environmental Agency (NEA), Singapore, as part of the ongoing “Project Wolbachia – Singapore”, aimed at reducing the Aedes aegypti mosquito population through a population suppression approach. The candidate will investigate the biological mechanism of X-ray radiation-mediated sterile insect techniques and optimize its deployment in the current IIT-SIT protocol used in the production line.
Requirements:
· PhD Degree in life sciences from a reputable university.
· At least one first-author research paper in an international peer-reviewed journal.
· Strong background in developmental biology, genetics, cell and molecular biology.
· Prior research experience on mosquitoes or an insect model (such as Drosophila melanogaster) is advantageous but not required.
· Strong communication skills and excellent organizational skills.
