Scope of Position
Supervises the M&E team under his charge in ensuring that work/tasks performed are expeditiously carried out and in accordance to the prescribed standards. Conducts random inspections of M&E installations and notify the Chief Engineer of any irregularities. Trains, motivates and disciplines his subordinates. Ensure that all PPM is being carried out. Trouble shoot M&E problems and refers serious breakdowns to his superior. Carry out major installation work where shift personal are unable to perform due to time constraint.
Duties and Supporting Responsibilities
- Is responsible for the delegating of duties to his subordinates and ensuring that discipline and the quality/quantity of work are being maintained. Ensure that PPM assignment given be carried out in accordance to planning. Responsible for prioritizing work assignment so given.
- Ensure workshop is cleaned at all times.
- Receives approved work order on a daily basis from his immediate superior, studies such work order and assigns/delegates work/duties to his subordinates.
- Checks/verifies/controls the work of his subordinates to ensure that they meet the requirements/standards so specified.
- Ensure that tools/raw materials are used economically.
- Provides expert advise to subordinates and trouble shoot technical problem areas.
- Enforces Hotel and engineering policies and ensures strict compliance by his subordinates.
- Ensures the safety of his subordinates at all times and reports any precarious installations.
- Performs M&E installation/repair/maintenance work as and when deemed necessary.
- Report any mechanical or electrical irregularities.
- Ensures that the PPM system so assigned to him is being carried out expeditiously and effectively.
- Attend daily meeting and disseminate appropriate information/instructions to his subordinates.
- Check and ensure that daily logs of plants/utility meter readings are recorded accurately at specific intervals and investigate any deviances.
- Check and request the uniform/attire and grooming of his staff and ensures that they meet the standards of the Hotel.
- Prepare daily report and submit to Assistant Chief Engineer for records.
- Attend periodic engineering project meetings
- Make recommendation and discusses energy saving program with his immediate superior.
- Attends engineering meetings on a regular basis.
- Assists and discusses with the Chief Engineer in the preparation of the duty roster.
- Trains and upgrade the skills and knowledge of subordinates on a periodic basis.
- Co-ordinates with M&E contractors and ensures that the quality of work is maintained and in accordance to lay down standards.
- Evaluates the performance of his immediate subordinates and completes such Performance Appraisal Reports.
- Assists in any fire/safety drills or eventualities as contained in the Engineering Operational Manual.
- In the absence of the Assistant Chief Engineer, he assume the responsibility of attending kitchen/restaurant inspection and follow up with any repairs required.
Job Requirements:
- Willing to work on rotation shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Candidate must possess at least Primary/Secondary School/"O" Level, Professional Certificate/NITEC, Diploma/Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma in Engineering (Electrical/Electronic) or equivalent.
- At least 3 years experience in a similar capacity.
- Preferably specializing in Maintenance/Repair (Facilities & Machinery) or equivalent.
