Transition Manager

The organization is looking for a Transition manager who will assist with the setup of the remote ODC, as well as the long term project manager on the customer site and play the critical role of liaison between the customer and the ODC offshore team.

The Transition Manager will oversee the setup of the Offshore Development Center (ODC) and ensure a seamless transition of projects, processes, and teams. This role is crucial for establishing a robust operational foundation and aligning the offshore team with the client’s expectations and standards. The Transition Manager must deeply understand the customer’s unique business environment and requirements, and effectively train and coach the team for a successful transition.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Customer Business Environment Understanding:
    • Conduct comprehensive analysis and research to understand the customer’s business environment, industry, and market conditions.
    • Identify key business processes, goals, and challenges faced by the customer.
    • Develop a detailed understanding of the customer’s organizational structure, culture, and strategic objectives.
  2. Customer Requirement Gathering:
    • Collaborate with the client to gather and document detailed project requirements.
    • Conduct interviews, workshops, and surveys to capture specific needs and expectations.
    • Translate customer requirements into actionable plans and specifications for the ODC setup.
  3. ODC Setup Methodology:
    • Develop a structured methodology and roadmap for setting up the ODC, ensuring alignment with the customer’s requirements.
    • Define and implement standardized processes, tools, and best practices for ODC operations.
    • Establish governance frameworks to ensure compliance with customer standards and industry regulations.
    • Coordinate with IT, HR, and facilities teams to ensure the ODC is equipped with the necessary infrastructure and resources.
  4. Team training and coaching:
    • Design and implement comprehensive training programs to onboard the offshore team.
    • Conduct workshops and training sessions to familiarize the team with the customer’s business environment, processes, and tools.
    • Provide continuous coaching and mentorship to the team to enhance their skills and align their performance with customer expectations.
    • Implement performance evaluation and feedback mechanisms to track progress and address any gaps.
  5. Project Management:
    • Align with the ODC offshore project manager for project management.
    • Examine the detailed project plans for the setup of the ODC.
    • Ensure all milestones and deadlines are met during the transition period.
    • Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary.
  6. Stakeholder Communication:
    • Act as the primary point of contact between the client and the offshore team during the setup phase.
    • Facilitate regular communication and reporting to stakeholders on the transition's progress.
    • Address and resolve any issues or concerns raised by stakeholders promptly.
  7. Process Implementation:
    • Guide the offshore team to implement and standardize processes, methodologies, and best practices in the ODC.
    • Ensure alignment with the client’s operational procedures and quality standards.
    • Establish performance metrics and reporting mechanisms to track progress and quality.
  8. Risk Management:
    • Identify potential risks associated with the transition and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Proactively manage and resolve any issues that arise during the setup period.
    • Ensure continuity of operations and minimal disruption to ongoing projects.
  9. Continuous Improvement:
    • Gather feedback from the offshore team and the client to identify areas for improvement.
    • Implement lessons learned and continuously refine processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field. Project relevant certifications (e.g., PMP) are a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience (5+ years) in managing transition projects (ODC, managed service, etc.), preferably in the IT/software development industry.
    • Previous experience in setting up or managing an ODC is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Strong project management and organizational skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work in a cross-cultural environment.
    • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Willingness to travel as required, but not too often.
    • Bilingual is preferred (English, Chinese)
