Research Fellow (Nanomaterials Synthesis)

Nanyang Technological University

Nanyang Technological University company logo

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is seeking to hire a talented and experienced Research Fellow (RF). The RF will lead and contribute to the synthesis of novel nanomaterials, conduct comprehensive characterization to understand their properties and, together with collaborators, aid in the implementation of the nanomaterials in strong light-matter coupling photonic structures, aimed at achieving reliable single-photon sources. The RF will work closely with the other members of the team working on this activity, and with our partners and external collaborators in France and in Singapore. The RF will also be involved in the writing of progress reports and publications for this project. The RF will work on a research project on the development of strong light-matter coupling photonic structures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize protocols for synthesizing a variety of nanomaterials, including nanoplatelets and quantum dots with high quantum yield.
  • Utilize advanced techniques such as TEM, SEM, AFM, photoluminescence and time-resolved photoluminescence to characterize the structural, optical, and electronic properties of synthesized nanomaterials.
  • Conduct literature reviews to stay current with advancements in nanomaterial synthesis and their application in photonic structures.
  • Analyze data to derive insights into material properties and performance.
  • Aid in the analysis of the strong light-matter coupling photonic

Job Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or Materials Science and Engineering or related disciplines from top universities.
  • Experienced in the synthesis and purification of nanomaterials such as quantum dots and nanoplatelets.
  • Experienced in the optical characterization of nanomaterials such as quantum dots and nanoplatelets with techniques such as photoluminescence, TEM, SEM, XRD, and AFM.
  • Proven experience in the synthesis of nanomaterials.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and good proficiency in English as required to publish research.
  • Independent and can work well with a team.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and collaborative abilities.
  • Self-Motivated and takes initiative.
  • Publication track record is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to publish in high-impact scientific journals.
