The Analyst will support the regional and global Analytics team by contributing to cross barrel oil analysis. This position will report to the Head of Analytics and directly support commercial teams at the Company.
Job Scope:
In this role, the Analyst is expected to gather and analyze data to help trading teams in their decisions. The Analyst will be responsible for maintaining oil balances, specifically for oil products and as such will require good knowledge of refining operations and economics. The role requires experience using SQL, Python, Tableau, and Excel.
Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Eight years experience in research and analytics, preferably within a trading firm or oil major.
- Must have excellent presentation and communication skills and be able to use PowerPoint effectively to convey analysis.
- Candidates with an understanding of refining processes and economics are strongly preferred.
- A strong candidate would be comfortable with advanced excel modelling, conducting statistical analysis using either R or Python, coding and programing for automation, experience with SQL databases, and visualization using Tableau.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the Analytics team to construct and maintain fundamental databases for petroleum products balances.
- Calculate key arbitrage indicators, margins, and conduct ad-hoc price analysis as needed.
- Gather and analyze refinery turnarounds.
- Analyze cargo trade flows and link analysis with global Analytics team.
- Work to automate tasks where possible.
- Create global and regional presentations covering product balances as needed
- Assist with ad-hoc responsibilities as needed such gathering data and supporting business development activities.
