Level 1 IT Field Engineer

Technical Responsibilities

  1. Installation and Setup
    • Installation and basic configuration of Servers, Network switches, Routers and security appliances like Firewalls at client sites.
    • Provide assistance on all physical activities during Staging, migration and UAT.
    • Patch Management: Assist with the deployment of software updates and patches.
    • Take remote assistance from Senior engineers and TAC when needed.
    • Basic knowledge of Routing, switching, wireless and firewalls.
  2. Troubleshooting and Maintenance
    • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues on-site.
    • Perform routine maintenance and updates on IT systems to ensure optimal performance.
    • Provide support for network connectivity issues, including LAN/WAN, wireless networks, and VPNs.
    • Connectivity Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve basic systems and network issues, escalating to level 2 support if necessary.
    • Create TAC case with vendors when needed.
  3. Network Management
    • Assist in setting up and configuring network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
    • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network problems.
  4. System Upgrades and Repairs
    • Carry out hardware upgrades, repairs, and replacements as needed.
    • Update software Applications, Firmware and operating systems to the latest versions.

Project Management

  1. Project Execution
    • Participate in IT projects including new installations, migrations, and infrastructure upgrades.
    • Join Project calls and understand the project scope and timelines.
    • Assist Project team on the onsite related activities.
  2. Planning and Coordination
    • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for the procurement of IT equipment and services.
    • Plan and execute scheduled maintenance and upgrades to minimize downtime.

Client and Team Interaction

  1. Client Support
    • Provide on-site technical support and assistance to clients.
    • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their IT needs and provide solutions.
  2. Documentation
    • Maintain detailed records of installations, configurations, and repairs.
    • Document and report any recurring issues and propose solutions to prevent future occurrences.
  3. Team Collaboration
    • Work closely with other IT professionals and departments to ensure coordinated and efficient service delivery.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of IT policies and procedures.

Certifications from the vendors below will be an added advantage.
