Electrical Engineer (Green Energy)

Our client is looking for a motivated Electrical Engineer to join their marine division to develop exciting solutions for electric harbour craft and charging infrastructure. The successful candidate will have a proactive work attitude with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on a wide range of complex and time sensitive tasks. In this position, you will provide project execution and technical support to drive the growth of new business opportunities. We are looking for someone with a strong interest in emerging technologies related to marine electrification, battery, propulsion, power electronics and smart grid design.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Support the technical development of electrical, instrument and control system design for different harbour craft applications.
  2. Evaluate different ways to optimise power demand to make the electrification of seafaring vessels attractive for widespread adoption.
  3. Work with OEMs to carry out technical evaluations of marine products and solutions for adoption.
  4. Provide technical support on matters related to electrical discipline engineering such as power distribution system, energy storage, Power and Battery Management System (PMS / BMS), charging infrastructure etc.
  5. Operational data collection and developing tools for data analytics on usage, optimization and efficiency improvements.
  6. Ability to use tools to propose optimized energy management solutions to be used in the tools for data analysis.
  7. Collaborate with Institute of Higher Learning and Research Institute in Singapore on the development of cutting-edge technologies and manufacturing practices.
  8. Work with engineering contractors and OEMs to develop optimal solution within the project’s schedule and budget constraints.
  9. Support the project team with the review and preparation of electrical, instrument and control deliverables (schematics, datasheets, calculation, drawings etc).
  10. Proactively manage the interfaces of the project to ensure relevant inputs are received timely for incorporation into the design. This involves good coordination with the team internally as well as Client, Class and vendors externally.
  11. Assist troubleshooting during construction, mechanical completion and commissioning phase of the project.
  12. Support the operations team with technical advice, troubleshooting and optimization of the company’s fleet of vessels.
  13. Update job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging technology, improvements and absorbing new practices from the market.
  14. Other tasks as required.


Requirements/Qualifications:-

  • Degree qualified in a technical subject
  • at least 5-7 years of experience in electrical engineering, system design, battery, electric boats and vehicles, automation, wind turbine, solar and other renewable energy.
  • knowledge in Office Tools - MS officer, cad tools and/or PLC programming languages (will be a plus).
  • Practical experience in AC/DC switchboard design, inspection, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance and/or experience in PLC, Microcontrollers, Drives, Simulate and Configure by using various handheld Communicators and Test Equipment (will be a plus)
  • Knowledge in any Industrial communication protocols and/or knowledge in Modbus Serial and TCP/IP, Profibus, DeviceNet, CAN, I2C, etc.

Work days: 5 days work week
