Roles & Responsibilities:
- Monitors and manages the safe and cost-efficient technical operation of all assigned vessels, using available resources to meet cost, commercial viability, and operational excellence within Owner’s expectations. Ensures adherence to environmental compliance policies.
Ship Technical Support:
- Understands contractual agreements with customers to ensure the safe and cost-efficient delivery of ship management services for each assigned vessel.
- Monitors the effective operation of equipment and machinery on assigned vessels, identifying discrepancies from operational standards and proposing or implementing solutions to enhance vessel efficiency, performance, and safety.
- Participates in developing maintenance and repair plans for assigned vessels and monitors their execution to ensure compliance with schedules, quality standards, and budgets.
- Forecasts maintenance and repair needs, spare parts, and technical training for assigned vessels, providing valuable information for budget and maintenance plan development. Follows up on execution, identifying and resolving potential discrepancies.
- Monitors all trading certificates for vessels to ensure compliance with maritime legislation, safety regulations, and operational standards from regulatory bodies.
- Oversees the overall technical operation of assigned vessels, ensuring timely and on-budget completion of dry-docking and other maintenance and repair activities to support operational effectiveness and increase customer satisfaction.
Execution of Technical Inspections:
- Manages vessel visits, audits, and inspections from planning to implementation and follow-up, aiming to enhance fleet operational efficiency. Ensures timely and accurate vessel visit reports are submitted to the owner, Fleet Director, and/or MD for detailed analysis and corrective action planning.
- Collaborates with the Quality department to align all technical requirements and standards of the assigned fleet with the company’s QC policy and relevant legislation, contributing to environmental protection and enhancing the company’s image.
Execution of Maintenance Activities:
- Monitors the timely, accurate, and quality execution of maintenance and repair activities in collaboration with the Onboard Management Team, ensuring subcontractors’ deliverables meet agreements and requirements for the safe and efficient operation of each assigned vessel.
Purchasing Activities:
- Monitors and evaluates requisition requests from vessels, with approved requests processed by the Central Purchasing Team or Technical Officers for quotations. Reviews quotations and approves orders, ensuring the timely supply of required spare parts and stores to vessels.
Education and Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or equivalent, or Chief Engineer’s qualification.
Work Experience:
- 5 years of sailing experience as a Senior Officer, or
- 5 years of shore experience as a Technical Superintendent with a ship management/owning company, or
- 5 years of combined experience in the above positions.
