Job Description:

We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic research engineers to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with our PI, Co-Is and researchers to develop and test sustainable mineral extraction techniques and evaluate their effectiveness in capturing and sequestering CO2. This role will involve conducting experiments, analyzing data, and contributing to the development of new and improved methods for CO2 sequestration.


Job scope:

  • Carry out experiment on extraction of calcium and magnesium ions from industry products.
  • Assist in the development of a feasible and economical carbon capture technology.
  • Conduct regular literature surveys of technologies for CO2 capture and mineral carbonation.
  • Integrate experimental data from laboratory studies into process operation and optimization.
  • Compile regular reports to keep the research team updated on progress and support project outcomes.
  • Occasionally present results to external stakeholders such as national agencies and industrial partners.
  • Undertake other supporting work as needed to ensure the success of the project.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree/BS or MS in Chemistry, Material Science, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Good understanding of the concepts and processes involved in CO2 absorption and desorption.
  • Understanding of chemical processes and their design and optimization.
  • Proficient in chemistry and chemical engineering concepts, particularly in inorganic chemical synthesis and multiphase reactions.
  • Experience in designing, setting up, and operating reactors and other equipment at the kg-scale.
  • Understanding characterization techniques such as XRF, XRD, SEM, BET, TGA, ICP, and others.
  • Comfortable working with uncertainty typically associated with early-stage research in chemical engineering topics.
