Job Description:
As a System Test Engineer, you will be responsible for the comprehensive system testing of automation products, including controllers and I/O platforms. Your duties will encompass system testbed wiring and commissioning, as well as executing firmware-centric system tests. You will work closely with System Test Leads and other team members to identify, investigate, and characterize product failures. Prompt reporting of product defects using assigned tools and templates is essential. Proficiency in PLC knowledge is required to ensure accurate defect characterization and understanding of root causes during verification processes.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct system testing activities for automation products, focusing on controllers and I/O platforms.
- Perform system testbed wiring and commissioning.
- Execute firmware-centric system tests.
- Collaborate with System Test Leads and team members to discover and characterize product failures.
- Investigate and report product defects promptly using designated tools and templates.
- Ensure accurate defect characterization and clear understanding of root causes in collaboration with developers.
- Focus on system test engineering tasks to ensure the development of high-quality automation products.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related fields.
- Knowledge and expertise in test engineering processes (Agile, continuous integration, waterfall) and methods for test case design and test coverage optimization.
- Experience in test automation methodologies.
- Proficiency in ladder programming.
- Experience with scripting languages (preferably Python) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of industrial automation and PLC applications.
- Familiarity with I/O modules, controller families, and application software is advantageous.
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
- At least 5 years of experience in test engineering.
- Comfortable with embedded system knowledge.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in teams, action-oriented, and possess a strong drive for results.
- Passionate about testing and eager to explore new solutions.
- Report progress to managers and leads, and escalate issues promptly to project or management.
