Library & Archives Solutions Pte Ltd (LAAS) incorporated in 2000, is a wholly-owned company of the National Library Board (NLB) of Singapore. It is created to be the sole distributor of products and services of NLB. The Company plans to reach out to the library industry to exert leadership in library innovations, as well as provide assistance to libraries that wish to expand their services and grow their capabilities. It also aims to provide productivity tools to reduce the cost of operations for clients, and to enable libraries to embrace digital technology to better serve users.


Scope of Work

  • Advise patrons on library etiquette and promote library collections and services.
  • Recommend physical and digital materials and services to patrons, engaging them through programs such as book displays, storytelling, tours, and roadshows.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, including handling email inquiries, processing membership registrations, and following up on customer service issues.
  • Supervise and train volunteers in patron inquiries, customer service, collection maintenance, and user education on library resources.
  • Plan and track staff schedules and movements.
  • Process library materials to support collection development and maintenance.
  • Ensure facilities are well-maintained to meet operational and customer needs.
  • Assist in library operations, including compiling reports, managing crises, handling financial matters, and providing administrative support.
  • Address customer queries, issues, and feedback in accordance with service standards and procedures.


Requirements

  • Strong customer service and engagement abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in supervising staff to maintain quality standards.
  • Adaptability to rapidly changing environments and services.
  • Ability to conduct mobile frontline services, such as roving within the library.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and library software
  • Availability for shift work, and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have at least a minimum of 4 years of working experience in libraries
