Job Description:
- Operational Database Services: Provide comprehensive operational database services.
- Database Management: Design, implement, document, administer, and monitor databases to ensure they operate efficiently and securely.
- Database Patching: Manage and execute database patching processes.
- Incident and Request Management: Own, track, and resolve database-related incidents and requests, ensuring they are fulfilled and resolved within Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Service Report Review: Review service-related reports (e.g., database backups, maintenance, monitoring) daily to identify and resolve service-related issues within established SLAs.
- Alert Response: Respond to database-related alerts and escalations, collaborating with vendors and other parties to develop strategic solutions for recurring problems.
- Communication and Coordination: Maintain communication with the development team to update them on the status of their requests, initiate and perform changes on development systems, and proactively escalate unresolved issues within the established timeframes.
Requirements:
- Recognised Degree with a technical major such as engineering, data communications or computer science, among others;
- Minimum 5 years Database Administration experience;
- Experience with Relational Database Administration for DB2 / Oracle Server / PostgreSQL;
- Experience with Administration of Cloud Native / Software as a Services (SaaS) Data warehouses product such as Snowflake, AWS Redshift will be an advantage;
- Knowledge and/or working experience in SQL Database servers and MySQL will be an advantage;
- Experience in performing, managing and validating Data Model creation. (ERWIN and/or equivalent);
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems;
- Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools. (knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics);
- Experience with backups, restores and recovery models;
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for DB2 / Oracle Server / PostgreSQL;
- Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts / shell scripting;
- Experience in writing and implementing Stored Procedures, PL/SQL and SQL;
- Experience working with Windows and UNIX servers;
- Experience in cloud database computing will be an advantage;
- Good communication and documentation skills;
