Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for conceptualization, design, and development of mechanical systems, components, and products according to project requirements and specifications for high precision automation system.
- Work closely with team to build a library of standard function units and assembly groups from a historical database / PDM system.
- Support Asian sales team to complete requirements and work with HQ on application engineering of non-standard automation systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand client needs and develop customized mechanical solutions that meet those requirements. Provide technical support and expertise in the application of mechanical designs and support throughout the sales process including product presentations, demonstrations and customer consultation.
- Perform prototype design, assembly, testing and troubleshooting.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, drawings, and reports, to communicate design concepts and implementation plans internally and externally.
- Ensure that all mechanical designs meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices through multiple reviews and testing to identify and address any potential issues or deficiencies.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical design and application engineering. Proactively identify opportunities for process optimization and innovation.
- Work with external vendors and system integrators to deliver the automation system.
- Support Project Managers to resolve design issues during production
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will bring to the role:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in mechanical design, application engineering of precise high performance automation systems with a track record of successful project delivery from conceptualization till SAT.
- Proficiency in CAD software (Preferably SolidWorks) and other relevant engineering tools.
- In-depth knowledge of automation system design and also good understanding of material selection, machined part fabrication and process.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations and best practices in mechanical engineering and design.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret technical requirements and specifications.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Willingness to travel worldwide is an advantage. Frequent travelling is needed.
