The Network Services seeks a candidate for the Demand Management & Consulting team to assist in the prioritization, evaluation and recommendations of incoming Network Services-related requests. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Network Services Engineer for our Demand Management team. As a Network Services Demand Planning Engineer, you will play a critical role in managing network services growth to meet the goals of our internal customers, optimizing our network resources, and facilitating relationships to other parts for the OUR COMPANY business. Your broad base in network services technology will be utilized to bring together solutions from our approved network technology in a timely and coordinated manner to meet the production goals of the company. Your expertise in Firewalls, LAN, WAN, & Wireless integration will be key as well as a solid understanding of Agile Framework, Project Management, & excellent communication skills.
The selected candidate will be an entry point to demand (requests) from various stakeholders as a technical specialist in computer/data IT Network Services. The candidate will perform the initial evaluation of incoming requests to Network Services, orchestrate engagement of respective Network Services product team(s) to document detailed demand evaluation and estimates with stakeholders’ input, and consult on designing and implementing network infrastructure solutions within Network Services, utilizing classic IT and agile IT to the DevSecOps model. Network Services also encompasses our Cloud & Unified Collaboration tools (web conferencing, online meetings tools), therefore, experience in both these technologies are desired.
Primary Responsibilities
The Demand Management & Consulting group within Network Services will have three major components (or layers): Layer 1 = day to day demand administration and reporting. Layer 2 = Technical specialist managing the incoming demand from all stakeholders. Layer 3 = architectural specialists for data Networks. This position focuses on Layer 2 and will collaborate closely with layer 1 and layer 3.
- Technical point of entry for incoming demand from stakeholders outside of Network Services (e.g., any site, business area, or other IT organization)
- Manufacturing plants, facility requests, any other business requirements
- Initial evaluation of incoming requests, approach the respective product team and orchestrate engagement into detailed demand evaluation together with requestors
- You will help develop a view of incoming Network and Unified Collaboration requests, determine the importance of incoming requests relative to existing work within the network stack and within the network product teams and make recommendations as to the prioritization. Where the requests are deemed tier 1 importance, you’ll work with Service Delivery to prioritize and determine possible funding sources.
- Capacity Planning: Conduct thorough analysis of network infrastructure and services to determine the required capacity to meet current and future demands. Identify potential bottlenecks or capacity gaps and develop strategies to address them proactively.
- You will assist product owners within Network Services in outlining the tier 1, tier 2 and backlog level of all work within their portfolios to assist in maintaining a structured approach to evaluating new requests.
- You will be a respected go-to individual where demand from within a respective region is primarily channeled to (through Network technology technical acumen and through good communication skills) Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network engineering, operations, finance, and business units, to align network services with organizational goals and objectives. Effectively communicate findings, recommendations, and updates to stakeholders at various levels.
Education Minimum Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant job experience
Degree preferred in or relevant experience in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering
Required Experience and Skills:
- 5-6 years in providing technical operation support and service delivery in IT Data Network and/or Unified Communication areas
- Wide IT Data Networking experience with Routing & Switching, Network Security, Cloud technologies and Unified Communications (Cisco, VeloCloud, F5, Palo Alto, AWS, Azure, MS Teams, etc.)
- CCNP or CCIE certification preferred or other major certification preferred (wireless certifications are a plus)
- 2-3 years’ experience or participation in project management of medium or large IT projects
- Ideally qualified in ITIL and in a project management methodology and Agile aware
- Agile certifications a plus
- Good knowledge of IT governance processes
- Ability to create positive relationships at all levels across different groups & teams
- Ability to review priorities and adjust them quickly as business focus shifts to higher importance objectives; ability to meet deadlines
- Proven experience with working across technical and business teams to achieve common objectives and good customer experience
- Strong customer service skills
- Solid project management and time management skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills within a matrix organization
- Proven people management skills: ability to network and build working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
