Mid-Level Global Disputes Associate – International Arbitration

The successful candidate must be able to:

  • Represent clients in legal proceedings and draw up legal documents for international disputes
  • Manage or advise clients on cross-border disputes
  • Research and apply statutes, decisions, regulations, and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies to determine ramifications for cases
  • Interpret laws, rulings and regulations for individuals and businesses
  • Prepare legal briefs and opinions
  • Analyze the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents
  • Examine legal data to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuit
  • Evaluate findings and develop strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases
  • Advise clients concerning business transactions, claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations
  • Gather evidence to formulate defense or to initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain the facts of a case
  • Negotiate settlements of civil disputes
  • Confer with colleagues with specialties in appropriate areas of legal issue to establish and verify bases for legal proceedings
  • Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law
  • Search for and examine public and other legal records to write opinions or establish ownership

Requirements

  • Fluent in Mandarin for purpose of fact finding (document review, witness interviews, etc), conducting investigations, advising and working with relevant stakeholders in or involving China
  • 4 - 6 years’ experience at a leading Singapore law firm or international law firm
  • Singapore Law and/or English Law qualified
  • Experienced with international arbitration, international investigations and/or cross-border litigation
  • Excellent academic performance and top tier legal training
  • International travel may be required to attend hearings / client meetings in other countries
