Mid-Level Global Disputes Associate – International Arbitration
The successful candidate must be able to:
- Represent clients in legal proceedings and draw up legal documents for international disputes
- Manage or advise clients on cross-border disputes
- Research and apply statutes, decisions, regulations, and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies to determine ramifications for cases
- Interpret laws, rulings and regulations for individuals and businesses
- Prepare legal briefs and opinions
- Analyze the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents
- Examine legal data to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuit
- Evaluate findings and develop strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases
- Advise clients concerning business transactions, claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations
- Gather evidence to formulate defense or to initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain the facts of a case
- Negotiate settlements of civil disputes
- Confer with colleagues with specialties in appropriate areas of legal issue to establish and verify bases for legal proceedings
- Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law
- Search for and examine public and other legal records to write opinions or establish ownership
Requirements
- Fluent in Mandarin for purpose of fact finding (document review, witness interviews, etc), conducting investigations, advising and working with relevant stakeholders in or involving China
- 4 - 6 years’ experience at a leading Singapore law firm or international law firm
- Singapore Law and/or English Law qualified
- Experienced with international arbitration, international investigations and/or cross-border litigation
- Excellent academic performance and top tier legal training
- International travel may be required to attend hearings / client meetings in other countries
