Valvoline has a rewarding opportunity as a Director, Human Resources, APAC. This is a hybrid opportunity, 2 days remote per week.


The Regional Human Resources Director will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing HR strategies and initiatives in alignment with Valvoline Global, global objectives. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this role is responsible for ensuring that our regional workforce is engaged, motivated, and aligned with the company's values and mission.


Role will:

  • Oversee and provide guidance, advice and coaching on all human resources related functions.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to senior leadership within the organization.
  • Provide overall supervision for payrolls in the respective regions/counties and approve where required.
  • The human resources functions include Talent Acquisition, onboarding; employee relations; industrial relations; performance management, learning & development, succession planning, talent management, mobility, compensation & benefits and general administration.
  • Ensure that relevant policies and procedures are maintained, communicated and implemented.


How You’ll Make an Impact

  1. Sets direction for HR function and HR subjects for complete region, aligned with the global strategy and approach. Partners with senior leaders to build a strategic talent plan, aligned to the client organization’s strategy for the different parts of the business in the region. Acts as a trusted advisor and coach to the leadership team while building deep business understanding and relationships, resulting in strategic alignment with the organization as well as organizational trust in, and partnership with, the HR function. Acts as a critical part of leadership.
  2. Plans, organizes, and controls the activities and actions of the HR department in general. Managing the HR employees in the region. Contributes to the development of the regional and global HR department goals and objectives. Aligns organizational workforce plans with Talent Acquisition planning processes and financial deliverables for the different functions. Uses comprehensive data and insights to inform business cases for changes to talent strategies or practices. Decisions and recommendations are informed by data, leading to improved outcomes and buy in.
  3. Oversees recruitment efforts for all personnel, including job posting, performing interviews, etc. Conducting new employee orientations and employee relations counseling. Oversees exit interviews. Leads exit processes in consultation with legal where needed. Develops and administers human resources policies and procedures that relate to all company personnel. Develops, revises, maintains and recommends personnel policies and procedures and the employee handbook. Maintains department records and reports. Maintaining company directory and other organizational charts
  4. Facilitates change management activities, driven by the business. Evaluates the impact of proposed changes on employees; advises on alternatives and change management. Partners with senior client group leaders and the HR Leaders to design organizational structure, job roles, and talent management processes to drive business unit performance. Lead succession planning, talent development and engagement strategies for the client group, identifying critical roles & preparing potential talent and pipelines for mentoring, training, etc
  5. Ensures proper implementation of the company’s compensation program. Manages benefits administration, affirmative action programs and secures all Payroll processes in the region. Acts as example as manager for all employees, especially regarding EHS and the company values
  6. Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.
  7. Primary Interactions (Internal and External) - Regular meetings with Senior Leaders, part of EMT and HR leadership team. Next to that direct contact in all levels of the organization. External contacts with different suppliers like recruitment agencies, schools and universities, trainers, advisors on specific HR area’s.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, or similar qualification.
  • 10+ years of progressive human capital or human resources experience ideally from a similar industry across the region.
  • Progressive HR experience within a Matrix Organization
  • Experience leading HR activities in an environment of transformation and change
  • Previously demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Possesses agility, growth mindset and experience leading and engaging high performing teams

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

  • Strategic thinker with strong practical judgment and outstanding analytical and data processing skills
  • Proven track record of quickly being able to build relationships and establish trust with senior management and executives
  • Ability to collaborate with and influence peers
  • Capable of planning and managing projects with attention to achieving timely, cost-effective outcomes
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing work accordingly.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the organizational environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to influence at varying levels across the organization
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and navigate in a highly matrixed environment
