Join our Loss Prevention Team
We are seeking a Technical Safety (Process Safety) Engineer to join our corporate safety organization, Loss Prevention (LP). LP provides both in-field occupational and process safety support, as well as centralized technical consulting, to facilities and departments.
Your Role
As a Technical Safety Engineer, you will collaborate with key stakeholders to provide expert guidance on facility design requirements related to fire prevention and process safety engineering. This includes areas such as firewater systems, fireproofing, emergency shutdown systems, drainage, tank design, electrical classifications, pipeline design, and equipment layout.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical guidance and develop procedures on fire prevention and process safety engineering, ensuring alignment with company and international standards (e.g., NFPA, API).
- Review new projects for compliance with engineering standards and represent LP in project meetings throughout the design, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Conduct surveys of existing facilities to assess the adequacy of design, operations, and maintenance related to safety and fire prevention.
- Analyze fire and process safety incidents to identify root causes and recommend updates to standards, procedures, or other remedial measures.
- Develop and deliver training programs on process safety and fire prevention engineering.
- Utilize risk analysis techniques to identify and mitigate corporate risk exposure.
- Assist in surveys conducted by insurance, government, and other external agencies, acting as a subject matter expert on fire prevention engineering requirements.
- Mentor other LP personnel.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or fire protection engineering.
- 10+ years of relevant industry experience in oil and gas, petrochemicals, or related fields, with 5+ years focused on technical safety and fire prevention engineering.
- Professional Engineering licensing/certification/registration in Fire Protection Engineering or an advanced degree is highly desirable.
- Ability to produce clear and concise technical reports.
