Key Responsibilities:
Plan, execute and manage all phases of accounting and business-related research and thought leadership projects congruent with the Institute's strategy. This includes:
- Generate research themes or topics. Regular horizon scanning to identify global, regional and local industry and business trends of relevance to the accountancy profession.
- Develop and roll out research proposals that would enhance the Institute’s thought leadership and advocacy position.
- Collaborate with relevant partners, industry stakeholders, and/or government agencies to drive research projects and agendas that are relevant and of interest to the accounting profession.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality research outputs that are produced within budget allocation.
- Identify appropriate research approaches, including prepare survey questionnaires, focus group discussion questions, interview questions, etc.
- Collect, analyse and interpret data and results.
- Present research results and write reports for publication.
- Work closely with the Communications Department to effectively publicise the research outputs via available media and communications platforms.
- Produce commentaries for CA Lab on emerging business trends and developments that impact the profession.
- Carry out any other ad-hoc assignments assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Business, Finance, Economics or Political Science.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in research-related work.
- Keen interest in latest business trends and developments. Curious and always on the lookout for areas/topics that interest the accountancy and business community.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to grasp issues and acquire knowledge in new domains.
- Analyse multiple sources of information and data to derive insights for research purposes and to write reports and commentaries.
- Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to facilitate group discussions will be an added advantage.
- Highly motivated, able to work independently and multi-task in a dynamic environment.
- Team player with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel, including pivot tables, v-lookup, etc. Familiar with survey tools such as SurveyMonkey.
