EE/SW/FW common pool technician(Permanent)

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform hardware rework and soldering tasks on PC laptop components, including circuit boards, connectors, and other hardware elements.
  • Diagnose hardware issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions to ensure the functionality and reliability of PC laptops.
  • Conduct repairs, replacements, and upgrades on various hardware components such as motherboards, processors, memory modules, and storage drives.
  • Maintain accurate records of hardware repairs, including documenting procedures, parts used, and testing results.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards for handling electronic components and soldering equipment.
  • Support FW Engineering team for field issue reproduction and validation
  • Troubleshooting of reported issues, including general triage & debug
  • Lead other junior test engineers on issue triage and debugging steps
  • Coordination with key stakeholders from development teams, architects and test engineers for resolution of open issues
  • Work with architects on new proof-of-concept feature setup and validation execution
  • Collection and analysis of debug logs, analyzer logs including Logic Analyzer, USB Analyzer, PD Analyzer, and DP Aux Analyzer
  • Provide weekly status reports for reported issues and progress and validation progress report for proof-Of-Concepts features to distribute to relevant stakeholders
  • Complete all test requests on time or communicate revised schedule if necessary.
  • Submit all bugs into tracking tool and be able to accurately classify severity level.
  • Capable of performing ad-hoc testing on any new software or hardware components and help develop test plans for these components.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects or tasks and complete on schedule.
  • Provide periodic updates to team lead with status of component qualification status.
  • Provide feedback to test leads on modifications or improvements needed to test plans and/or test requests.
  • Build, maintain and upgrade testing systems based on testing requirements.
  • Understand and utilize all software tools that are required such as bug tracking tools, databases, etc.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in EE/Computer science degree

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of PC hardware and software
  • Able to work independently with minimal instructions
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience working well with partners, internal and external.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • USB/USB-C related knowledge
  • Experienced with Docking Technologies
  • Experienced with PD (Power Delivery) protocol
  • Experienced with DisplayPort protocol
  • Experienced with Debug tools
    • Logic analyzer (Saleae)
    • USB analyzer
    • PD analyzer
    • DP aux analyzer
  • Strong Collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to review hardware schematics
  • Experienced with Windows OS & Driver Installation.
  • Experienced with Windows ADK or OPK is a plus.
