Research Officer, Ocular Epidemiology Research Group

The Singapore National Eye Centre/Singapore Eye Research Institute (SNEC/SERI), is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to take on a significant role in this exciting and rapidly developing research group.


The Ocular Epidemiological Research Group at SERI conducts ophthalmic epidemiologic research via machine learning in Singapore and Asia. In addition, together with Retina and Glaucoma Research Groups at SERI, we are conducting several clinical projects, collectively involving over 100,000 study subjects, with comprehensive image and genetic data.


For the role of a Research Officer, you will be working in the Ocular Epidemiology Research Group with the following (but not limited to) responsibilities,

  • Assist Principal Investigator (PI) and Research Fellow in developing study plans and conduct literature reviews to aid grant applications and scientific manuscripts.
  • Prepare reports and ethics applications
  • Perform image processing (e.g. Python, MATLAB).
  • Perform data validation and analysis using advanced data analytics software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, SAS).
  • Perform data validation and analysis using advanced machine learning platforms (e.g., TensorFlow, Caffe, pytorch, etc.).
  • Coordinate and communicate with funding organizations, and collaborators
  • Assist in study execution, managing project timelines, and participate in the preparation of abstracts, posters and presentations
  • Interpret and present study results
  • Train and manage junior coordinators and students
  • Perform other related or additional duties assigned by the PI

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor degree in computer science, computer vision, robotics, public health, biostatistics or relevant disciplines is preferable
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge in statistical analysis and machine learning
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to multi-task several projects at a time
  • An analytical mind, drive and dynamic personality
