WTT SINGAPORE SMASH EVENT DIRECTOR
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Event Director to lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of the Singapore Smash. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, a collaborator, and an innovator who can create an unforgettable experience for athletes, fans, and stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Event Planning and Coordination:
- Lead the development and implementation of the Singapore Smash annually and develop strategic event plans to expand and elevate future events.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all aspects of the event are aligned and executed smoothly.
- Oversee the selection and management of event venues, ensuring all facilities meet the highest standards for athletes and spectators.
Stakeholder Management:
- Identify and create opportunities to grow the Singapore Smash for players, entourage, fans, partners, and media.
- Build strong and strategic partnerships with external stakeholders to ensure that Singapore Smash maintains its reputation as a leading sports and entertainment property.
- Manage business and relationship management of major partners, including key public sector event support agencies, event vendors, partners, broadcasters, and media.
Collaborative Leadership:
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including marketing, operations, hospitality, and volunteer staff.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting high performance and continuous improvement.
- Lead and manage the varying internal interests and relationships from concept to final delivery of the Singapore Smash.
Operational Excellence:
- Provide leadership and manage the operations and activities of the Singapore Smash, including responsibility for all event operations, commercial, broadcast, financial management, reporting, and government relations.
- Ensure all event operations are executed flawlessly, from athlete accommodations and transportation to security and medical services.
- Identify innovative and creative ideas to grow the Singapore Smash brand from an event delivery perspective.
Marketing and Promotion:
- Develop and execute a marketing and promotional strategy to maximize event attendance and global visibility.
- Leverage social media, digital platforms, and traditional media to engage fans and generate excitement leading up to and during the event.
- Build, manage, and deliver all associated Singapore Smash promotional and peripheral activities.
Fan Engagement:
- Create innovative and engaging fan experiences that enhance the overall event atmosphere and provide lasting memories.
- Implement fan-centric initiatives, including interactive zones, autograph sessions, and entertainment activities.
Post-Event Evaluation:
- Conduct thorough post-event evaluations, gathering feedback from participants, spectators, and stakeholders.
- Analyze event performance and identify opportunities for improvement for future editions.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Develop and ensure event manuals, policies, and new documents are up-to-date or produced as required.
- Act as WTT Event & Experience Manager at designated WTT Series events.
- Any other tasks as required by the Chief Events Officer and Event & Experience Director.
REQUIREMENTS
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Event Planning, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in sports event management, with a proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale events.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
- Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Creative and strategic thinker with a passion for innovation.
- Knowledge and love of table tennis and its global community are highly desirable.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Desirable:
- Passion for sport and business;
- Ability to work in multiple languages, with preference for Asia Pacific languages.
