Job summary:
Junior Technical Superintendent is responsible for the planning and controlling all activities connected with safe and efficient operation of the assigned vessels. Ensure the maintenance, planning, execution and control is carried out according to company standards and conformance to planned maintenance system.
Responsibilities / daily tasks:
° Fully conversant with Company Regulations, International and National Statutory reguirements and, so far as possible, developments that relate to the marine industry. (This to include, but not limited to, full knowledge of SOLAS, MARPOL, and the Company’s Quality Systems.) Ensure allocated ships are kept informed and fully up to date.
° Operation of allocated ships, ensuring that realistic budgets are set and controlling ship expenditure.
° Evaluate ship operations, particularly with respect to safety and overall reliability of the plant. Monitor ships performance in relation to consumption of fuel oil, diesel oil and lube oil. Researching into variations of the same and taking corrective action.
° Ensure spare gear stock levels are maintained to the correct level and that regular purchasing is undertaken as reguired.
° Visit the vessels at regular intervals and prepare technical reports with recommendations for improvement as necessary. Each vessel will be visited at least twice a year.
° Prepare a comprehensive dry-dock/refit specification, supervise and ensure all work is completed to a satisfactory standard, within the agreed time limit and budget.
° Monitor ship’s certification and arrange for necessary Classification Surveyors to attend the vessels as and when reguired.
° Identify, track and close out defects or deficiencies identified during ship inspections.
° Track and organise the close out of defects or deficiencies identified by additional third parties whilst on board the Company vessels.
° Assist ship’s staff in assessing operational risks as necessary.
° Monitor and report on fleet personnel, with emphasis on the senior staff positions, ensuring manning standards are maintained and identifying suitable candidates for future promotion.
° Oversee vessel disbursements.
° Process vessel reguisitions, reguesting guotations from vendors and placing purchase orders in accordance with the Company’s purchasing procedures and authority levels.
Minimum Qualifications:
° BSC degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Marine Engineering.
° 2-3 years sailing experience on board vessels at least as 2/E, 1/E.
° Good spoken and written English.
° Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
° Good planning and organisational skills.
° Demonstrates teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills. ° Willing to travel on board on a regular basis.

Junior Technical Superintendent is reporting to Senior Technical Superintendent and will be working closely with other departments.
