Job Description
As part of the growth strategy, Meridian Innovation is recruiting an experienced Field Application Engineer to be part of a highly self-driven group to achieve its operational and business goals.
The candidate will need to have strong programming background and skillsets, preferably in the IoT / electronics industry space, while being able to effectively communicate with both current and potential customers to identify issues, solutions and problem solve in achieving win-win situations.
The role provides an opportunity for personnel to develop skills in Solution Consulting and Pre-sales, integrating both technical and business responsibilities to enhance their holistic capabilities and contribute more effectively to company objectives.
Basic Responsibilities & Desirable Traits
- Develop a deep understanding of the products’ performance and limitations, using it to also qualify leads to see if there is a good fit for business development & prioritization.
- Support customers in terms of product application, troubleshooting, resolving technical issues. Provide on-site service whenever necessary, and provide technical training.
- Feedback issues to Engineering / Business groups as part of PDCA cycle (post sales cycle support).
- Using C/C++ or Python to design, develop and write embedded software/language.
- Strong focus on helping the customer achieve their objectives by actively listening to their requirements / pain-points / ultimate end-objectives.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, work with, and advise the customer to establish common goals in achieving win-win situations.
- Gather customers feedback and insights to provide input for product improvements and enhancements.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including installation guides and troubleshooting procedures.
- Support business development cycles in solutioning & consultative manner (e.g. RFI, RFQ, technical queries, lead and run demos, provide sales presentations, etc)
- Must be customer service oriented, whilst keeping the big picture for collaborative problem solving
- Represent the company at key market events such as seminars, exhibitions, industry organization meetings, etc.
- Strong interpersonal skill-sets are necessary for this role (you have to be a people person).
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of field experience, with a strong technical background & proficiency – relating to sensors / hardware / IoT / electronics industry.
- Proven practical experience in a technical role (e.g. application engineering, technical support, etc).
- Electronics hardware experience will be a plus (i.e. PCB, etc).
- Must be analytical to effectively problem-solve and troubleshoot issues
- Demonstrated effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical audiences, while being customer-focused
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel as to and when required
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to have a holistic view on both technical aspects, as well as business aspects of things
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to present to audiences ranging from C-Level to End User, clearly articulate the value proposition of the company’s products to stakeholders, and act as a trusted advisor to current and potential clients
- Prior working knowledge of the following would be an added advantage: thermal sensors, industrial cameras, lenses, imaging techniques.
