Job Description
The successful candidate will work with Prof Ge Ruowen on investigating the anti-senescence function of ISM1 protein under a project on "Investigating ISM1 as a novel anti-senescence factor".
The main responsibilities of the position include ISM1 is a secreted protein highly abundant in lung. We have previously shown that ISM1 plays an important role in maintaining lung homeostasis. But how ISM1 achieved this remains incompletely understood. In this project, we aim to investigate and validate that ISM1 can inhibit cellular senescence in cell culture based premature senescence models. Multiple senescence-inducing agents will be used to induce cellular senescence in cultured lung epithelial cells as well as fibroblasts and the impact of ISM1 on cellular senescence will be studied.
Qualifications
PhD or equivalent in molecular cell biology
Skills:
Cell culture, senescence assays, gene expression manipulations, protein biochemistry
Experience:
Prior experience in cellular senescence assays, and molecular and cell biology expertise required. Familiar with cellular senescence literature and current development. In addition, experience in recombinant protein production and purification is required.
