As a Business Development Director, you will be responsible for driving the company's growth by identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, and developing strategic initiatives to enhance the company's market presence. This role requires a dynamic and results-driven professional with a strong background in business development, strategic planning, and market analysis.


Key Responsibilities:


Strategic Planning and Execution:

  • Develop and implement business development strategies aligned with the company's overall objectives and market trends.
  • Identify and evaluate new market opportunities, potential clients, and partnerships to expand the company's reach and revenue streams.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to set annual and quarterly business development goals and objectives.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and industry partners.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for major clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded.
  • Conduct regular client meetings, presentations, and negotiations to secure new business and renew existing contracts.

Market Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify emerging trends, competitive landscape, and potential areas for growth.
  • Analyse market data and industry insights to develop targeted business development strategies and campaigns.
  • Monitor and report on competitor activities and market conditions to inform strategic decision-making.

Sales and Revenue Growth:

  • Lead the sales team in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, including lead generation, prospecting, and closing deals.
  • Develop and manage sales pipelines, forecasts, and performance metrics to achieve revenue targets.
  • Implement effective sales processes, tools, and techniques to maximise efficiency and conversion rates.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the marketing and operations teams to align business development efforts with overall company objectives.
  • Provide input and feedback on service development and marketing strategies based on client and market insights.
  • Facilitate collaboration and communication across departments to ensure seamless execution of business development initiatives.

Digital Marketing Strategy:

  • Develop and oversee the company’s digital and social media marketing strategy to enhance brand awareness, engage with clients, and drive business growth.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to curate engaging content for various social media platforms.

Leadership and Team Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the business development team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide coaching and development opportunities.
  • Promote a collaborative and inclusive team environment that encourages innovation and excellence.

Budget and Resource Management:

  • Develop and manage the business development budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve strategic goals.
  • Monitor and control expenditures to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • Identify and secure necessary resources to support business development activities, including technology, tools, and personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related role in the mainland China market is essential (as the majority of the clients and business associates are from this region)
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin (for handling Mandarin-speaking clients and business associates).
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding revenue targets and business growth objectives.
  • Strong understanding of market dynamics, industry trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute comprehensive business development plans and digital marketing strategies.
  • Results-oriented, with a proactive and resilient approach to challenges and opportunities.

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require travel to meet with clients, attend industry events, and explore new business opportunities.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to meet deadlines and attend networking events.
