Key responsibilities and role
Marine Operations
- Represent the Company in external Marine matters.
- Verify conformity with external Bids/Tenders when applicable and required.
- Be updated about relevant mandatory operational requirements and information in-house.
- Ensure that practical procedures to meet the company’s Objectives and Policies are implemented and revised.
- Coordinate and Arrange for Vetting Inspections such as SIRE, CDI & RightShip in Fleet originating from the Singapore Administrative office and follow up on the closure of findings.
- Coordinate Flag State Control (FSC), Port State Control (PSC) and United State Coast Guard (USCG) inspections, and respond to deficiencies observed during these types of inspections.
- Ensure compliance with MARPOL and OPA-90 concerning vessel operation.
- Coordinate preparation, approval and maintenance of OPA-90/VRP, SOPEP or other flag state-required preparedness plans.
- Coordinate registration and take over or hand over of vessels.
- Coordinate and arrange issuance and amendments to the CSR (Continuous Synopsis Record).
- Keep VP, Fleet and/or Fleet Manager informed about matters related to the Senior Marine Manager / Marine Manager’s area of responsibility.
Health, Safety, Environment and Quality
- Monitor compliance with the documented business processes and company’s SMS on board and ashore.
- Prepare audit plans and perform the yearly audits onboard the vessels.
- Plan and carry out external audits, vetting and inspections on board and ashore
- Carry out incident investigations.
- Responsible for the registration and follow up of Non-Conformities and planned Corrective Actions.
- Assist in preparing new procedures in cooperation with relevant departments.
- Prepare inputs from Marine Department for Management Review.
- Participate in the development of OSM objectives and policies related to HSEQ and monitor that these are adhered to.
Qualifications
- The position requires that the holder has a background as a Master Mariner or has extensive experience as a senior officer on a specific type of vessel in the fleet or similar experience ashore.
- The position requires that the holder can communicate in both written and verbal English.
Experience
- The position further requires that the holder has the competence to conduct vessel internal audits related to the company's SMS and is conversant with the ISM and ISPS codes
