Job Purpose:As a Quantity Surveyor (QS) with our construction company, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate cost management and financial control throughout the lifecycle of construction projects. Your responsibilities will include cost estimation, procurement, contract administration, and cost management to ensure projects are delivered within budget and to the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation and Budgeting:Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment based on project requirements and specifications.
Assist in budget preparation and cost plans, ensuring alignment with project objectives and client expectations.
- Procurement:Source and obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors for materials, equipment, and services required for construction projects.
Evaluate bids and proposals to ensure they meet project specifications and budgetary constraints.
- Contract Administration:Assist in the preparation and evaluation of contracts, including tender documents, contract variations, and final accounts.
Administer contracts to ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions, as well as regulatory requirements.
- Cost Control and Monitoring:Monitor project costs and expenditures against approved budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend value engineering solutions without compromising quality or safety.
- Risk Management:Identify potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs or timelines.
Develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
- Quality and Compliance:Ensure all cost management processes adhere to relevant industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
Conduct regular audits and reviews to maintain accuracy and integrity of cost data and financial reporting.
- Reporting and Documentation:Prepare accurate and timely reports on project costs, expenditures, and forecasts for management and clients.
Maintain comprehensive documentation and records related to cost management activities and contractual agreements.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in cost estimation software and MS Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of local construction regulations and industry standards.
