Position: Legal Director
Budget: Up to $22,500 / month
Reporting Line: Reporting to CEO, One direct report
Roles & Responsibilities:
As the Legal Director for our Client, a brokerage and investment bank, you will be responsible for providing strategic legal guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, managing legal risks, and supporting business operations.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks associated with brokerage and investment banking activities.
- Contract Management, Lead the generation and review of legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and terms of business.
- Negotiate and review customer contracts and agreements to optimize terms and mitigate legal risks.
- Stay abreast of changes in financial regulations and ensure the organization's compliance.
- Interact with regulatory bodies and manage regulatory examinations, inquiries, and reporting.
- Manage and resolve legal disputes, litigation, and regulatory investigations.
- Collaborate with external legal counsel when necessary.
- Provide legal advice and support on new business initiatives, product development, and strategic projects.
- Collaborate with business units to ensure legal considerations are integrated into decision-making processes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a reputable institution, admitted to practice in one or more Commonwealth jurisdictions, including Singapore.
- Minimum of 12-15 years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a brokerage or investment bank.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations, including securities laws, derivatives regulations, and banking laws.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage legal teams and provide strategic legal advice to senior management.
- Detail-oriented, with a strong analytical mindset and the ability to navigate complex legal landscapes.
- Experience in handling litigation, regulatory matters, and contract negotiations in the financial industry.
