- Maintaining a routinely check of every nook and cranny of a facility
- Sweeping the floors of a facility or a household, removing all forms of dust, soot, stray scraps of paper
- Dusting cabinets, cupboards, showcases, walls, underneath mattresses, behind tapestries and picture frames
- Immersing a mop in a bucket of water and using it to wipe large spaces, turning them sparklingly clean
- Cleaning kitchens in order to make sure that no eating areas are ever unhygienic
- Keeping washrooms and basements clean
- Stocking up on cleaning supplies
- Ensure that the warehouse and loading bay are organised in a methodical, logical
- way and kept tidy at all times
- Have knowledge of collection schedules, and assess how best to store scrap and
- merchandise at the same time
- Maintaining fire routes, building security, and maintenance, e.g. door guards,
- batteries, light bulbs, alarms
- Ensure adequate arrangements for opening and closing the warehouse
- Ensure appropriate signage is in good order and visible
- Ensuring the equipment has adequate supplies of consumables i.e. distilled water for
- the stacker battery
- Organise safe disposal of rubbish and waste in accordance with recycling and reuse
- policy
- Monitor car parking, keeping it clear at all times and dealing with enquiries
- Ensure public areas of warehouse are safe and clean at all times for visitors
- Store pallets and cages safely and count trolleys in and out to ensure no thefts
- Inform Team Leader of any equipment malfunctions
- Help unload van with collections
- Record all contacts with donors on the database, keeping it accurate and up to date
- Cover for driver absence
- Record domestic waste as per procedure and organise recycling of plastics and
- metals
- Maintain decorative state of warehouse, dealing with fixtures, barriers etc
- Cleaning scrap where necessary
- Prepare scrap display/creative pieces to show the potential of scrap materials
- Engage with groups to show them around the warehouse and the potential of scrap
- materials
